Road Skills Driving School – Full Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Road Skills Driving School (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking driving lessons, introductory offers, block packages, intensive courses, or practical test car hire with us, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read these policies carefully prior to commencing your tuition.
1. Driving Licence & Legal Requirements
All students must hold a valid UK Provisional Driving Licence (or a full foreign licence with a valid UK counter-document) and present it to their instructor on or before their initial driving lesson. It is the learner’s ongoing legal responsibility to ensure their licence remains valid throughout their training. You must inform your instructor immediately of any medical conditions, disability, eyesight changes, or legal endorsements that may affect your driving entitlement.
2. Lesson Bookings, Scheduling & Payments
All individual driving lessons, block bookings, and intensive training packages must be paid for in advance via our website booking system, phone, or direct bank transfer. A booking is only confirmed once payment has been received and processed. For block bookings and promotional packages, all discounted hours must be completed within 6 months of the initial purchase date, after which any remaining unused credit expires without refund.
3. Strict 48-Hour Cancellation, Rescheduling & Illness Policy
A strict clear 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule any booked lesson directly with your instructor. Short-notice personal emergencies, work schedule changes, or sudden sickness are not exemptions under this policy. If less than 48 hours’ notice is provided, the full lesson fee remains chargeable, and any prepaid hour for that slot will be forfeited.
4. DVSA Practical Driving Tests & Instructor Approval
Under official DVSA regulations, learners are strictly required to book, schedule, and manage their practical driving test independently via the official GOV.UK portal. Road Skills Driving School does not book, manage, change, or cancel candidate practical tests. Learners must consult and receive explicit approval from their driving instructor before reserving or changing a practical test date to ensure vehicle and instructor availability. We reserve the right to withhold our training vehicle for a practical driving test if the instructor deems the student has not reached the required DVSA safe driving standard.
5. Instructor Availability & Lesson Delays
While we make every effort to maintain routine scheduling with your assigned driving instructor, unexpected vehicle breakdowns, severe weather conditions, or examiner delays at the test center may necessitate short-notice cancellations or rescheduling. In such circumstances, lost time will be credited back to the student or rescheduled at a mutually convenient time. If an instructor arrives late due to traffic, the missing time will be added to the end of the session or credited to a future lesson.
6. Safety, Punctuality & Vehicle Condition
Our training vehicles are regularly maintained to meet UK road safety standards and are fitted with dual controls. Instructors reserve the absolute right to refuse or terminate a driving session immediately if they suspect a pupil is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or prescription medicine that impairs driving capability, or if the pupil exhibits dangerous or abusive behavior. In such events, the full lesson fee will be charged.
7. Pupil Responsibilities & Vehicle Care
Students are expected to follow all instructions given by the instructor and act responsibly during lessons. Any damage caused to the vehicle due to reckless or negligent behavior contrary to instructor instructions may result in additional charges.
8. Liability
Road Skills and its instructors are not liable for any personal injury, loss, or damage occurring during or after driving lessons unless caused directly by our negligence.
9. Data Protection & Privacy
Road Skills handles all pupil personal information in strict compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. Personal information is collected solely for managing driving tuition, processing payments, and booking test slots, and will never be shared with third parties without prior explicit consent.
10. Policy Amendments & Links
Road Skills reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any updates will be communicated via email or posted on our website.
